 Our Philosophy & Mission

Our passion at Meraki & Moon is helping folks identify what is holding them back so they begin to live in the sunshine as authentically as they are in the middle of the night, when they have the space and quiet to tell their truth. For that reason, our educational programming will take a holistic approach to loosening up the creative self. We are committed to meeting people right where they are on their creative walk, whether just considering taking the first step to try something new and low-risk like a canvas painting party or the weary soul, tangled up in the deep jungle of creator's block.

We believe in the power of the village to heal its people. We are far more interested in your message and heart than your credentials, so if you're moved to teach, we believe there's a reason. To us, creativity is a spiritual path and we are seeking programs that align with these topics:

Awakening & Attention
These classes would act as the "spark" to get folks in touch with their neglected creative selves. Examples would be simple projects that get the feet wet and give students a win for the day to boost confidence.

The Body
These classes would address topics like eating to fuel creativity, igniting the fire in the belly, mending unprocessed emotions manifesting as physical symptoms and mindful movement. So often we stop creating because we don't feel well or energized. These type of classes would focus on mending that body/soul relationship.

Naming & Releasing
These classes would help students recover a sense of power. Examples would be intuitive art exercises that help release shame, writing activities that help students do their own detective work about their personal blocks and seminars on unlearning ancestral patterns regarding scarcity that block abundance. The idea here is to stop running on auto-pilot, name the monsters chasing us and take back our power.

Rooting
Ever hear that Avett Brother's tune? How's that line go? "Tell the truth to yourself and the rest will fall in place." These classes would help students deepen in their authenticity so the green returns to their world. Examples would be self-portraits, vision boarding or even something as simple as putting in hands in the dirt to build a terrarium that grounds the soul.

Connection
These classes, workshops or gatherings would give folks an opportunity to soak up and savor the energy of others on the creative path. Examples would be circles for knitting, reading, poetry and more. We would also like to explore topics like overcoming jealousy, perfectionism and fear blocks to intimacy.

Tending the Heart Soil
These action-oriented classes would represent what we call around here "the good work." These classes would be more involved and play out as series over a set amount of time to take students deeper into their exploration of self or learning of a specific skill. These type of classes will foster a respect for rest and work cycles and require some elbow-grease that we believe makes its way to the heart to loosen up any rust.

To submit your pitch, please send us an overview of the class or series you'd like to teach with your availability. Or call us at (502) 603-8122.
